Changing Layers at the Birch Tree Gallery

Ellen McCann and Angela Taylor’s work can be seen at the exhibition ‘Changing Layers’ at the Birch Tree Gallery in Dundas Street, Edinburgh from 13 April – 5 May.

Ellen graduated from Gray’s School of Art, Aberdeen. She sustained her practice alongside a long career as an art teacher and now works full-time on her sculpture. She has a studio in Elsrickle near Biggar which has a rural outlook. During her art career, she has been awarded various prizes from Aberdeen Artists Society, Paisley Art Institute, Visual Arts Scotland and the Royal Scottish Academy. She is a professional member of the Society of Scottish Artists.

Angela Taylor graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in Dundee followed by a year of Post Graduate studies. She has received a number of awards and travelling scholarships and was a Royal Society of Arts, London, Major Prizewinner. Angela was also commissioned to produce a series of soft sculptures in collaboration with Ian Hamilton Finlay. Angela works from her studio in Newport on Tay and from the Print Studio at Dundee Contemporary Arts. Angela is also a member of the Society of Scottish Artists.
