Olivia Turner – Refine

For Refine, Olivia Turner presents a new series of paintings looking at perspective, composition and structure, which have been made in response to a body of research carried out last year. Her concern with spatial awareness is evident within the work, which continually plays with conventional ideas about spaces. She constantly refines her compositions to create spaces that highlight the hidden beauty of buildings that would often be overlooked.

Each painting is developed from a series of drawings, which have all been made from multiple viewpoints. In this way, Turner constantly explores the different ways in which she can portray a site that she has investigated.

The artist aims to immerse the viewer in the work, allowing them to walk freely in and around it. Her main intention is to alter a place by creating a new space within it, causing the viewer to question their perception of their own experience of the space.
